"Omnipresence" is an episode from Season 1. In it, Orel learns that God is present in everyone and everything, and concludes that he and God share the same body.

Plot[]

The episode starts as Orel looks for air freshener to the bathroom, believing that the foul smells emanating from the toilet would attract Satan. As he grabs the can from the sink, Orel accidentally applies pressure to the cap and sprays aerosol right in his eyes. After Orel says that he hates the spray can, Bloberta tells him that while he may be upset, God is inside everything, including the can, so hating it is like hating the Lord. As Blobs tenderly cradles her aerosol can (while ignoring Shapey), Orel promptly apologizes to God and considers it a blessing that God is inside him.

The next day at school, Ms. Sculptham begins her lesson on the American Revolution. When she asks Orel what year the Boston Tea Party took place, Orel consults "God" for advice and gives an incorrect answer. Orel debates that because God told him the answer, the school's textbook, and facts in general, shouldn't be mixed up with His word. This defiance sends him straight to the principal's office, but Orel refuses to go and leaves school instead.

With a wealth of time on his hands, Orel goes wherever "God" tells him to, resulting in a fun-filled day for the two of them. Most of the adults in town don't seem to mind; Officer Papermouth is more confused than anything, while Reverend Putty begrudgingly shining his shoes at the behest of "God." At one point, Orel tries to walk across a pond with his newfound power, but sees a man jumping off a bridge and calls for help instead. As the suicidal man is escorted to an ambulance, one of the doctors namedrops St. Martin Luther's Protestant Hospital, inspiring Orel to go there.

As he enters the building, he asks Nurse Bendy about where he can find some sick people to heal. She doesn't believe Orel can help them in any meaningful way, but as she's "busy" painting her toenails, Nurse Bendy shuts him up by directing him to the patients. One of them is Dr. Lazyman, who Orel mistakes for a person with paraplegia. After Orel offers to help him walk again, the doctor gets out of his wheelchair to care for a patient. Orel remarks how easy that was and looks for a more challenging case.

He walks into an elderly woman's room, who asks him to unplug her IV machine. Orel's reluctant at first, driven by his mission to heal her and unsure of what this task would accomplish. After he realizes that he would "play God" by killing her, he fulfills her dying wish with glee. Nurse Bendy overhears the machine flatlining, and when Orel proudly owns up to it, she calls his father to the hospital.

In Clay's study, yet another belt-whipping ensues. He explains that only God and the government can decide who dies, and that Orel doesn't have enough of the Lord inside him to justify encroaching on their domain. Orel is confused about why God would keep the elderly woman alive, but Clay says that suffering is a key part of God's plan, and He kept her alive for good reason. Orel vows to never be the judge and jury of someone's life anymore - just the judge.
